Hello hello!
Not much has been going on lately. Just getting ready for school, working, institute, my new calling at church, visiting friends, family history... ok, so I guess a lot has been going on.
Institute is pretty different from Seminary. Well, of course it's the same Doctrine and Scriptures, but the maturity level and amount of input from those there is different. I really enjoy going, and I'm glad that we have an institute class in Burlington.
My calling at Church is the 4th Sunday teacher in Relief Society. My very first day in R.S. I was teaching. It was very scarey and I was shaking the whole time, but I think I did well. Courtney and Taylor came to hear me teach and I was really glad that they were there to support me. I love them so much. The women in R.S. are so sweet, and they all paid attention and gave input. I teach again next Sunday. All the lessons that I teach are from General Conference talks.
I went to the Burlington 1st Ward today to hear my friend Jason Mitchell give a talk. He is going on a mission, and is leaving towards the end of October. He has been called to serve the Washington Everett Mission. The talk he gave was amazing, and everyone can tell how excited he is to serve the Lord. I'm glad to have a friend like him, because his enthusiasm is a really inspiring. I know he will have a very successful mission.
A few weeks ago I had a strong desire to begin doing family history. Since my dad is an only child, I decided it would be easiest to begin with his side. So, I went to my grandparent's house (my dad's parents) in Henderson to get names and information. I only stayed for one night and I was able to go about 6 generations back. In total, about 136 names, including the family members that I know on my mothers side (mainly my aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents). The farthest back birthday being 1881. It's been very interesting to learn the names of those who came before me, and to learn information about certain people. For instance, one of the names is a woman who lived in England for a while and then worked in the Pentagon. What I am really the most anxious for is begining the Temple work for those who have passed away. My grandparents also gave me photographs of some of the family members. It's so amazing! I'm so glad that I started to do this.
Today the Skogen's had a YSA lunch at their house. Not only did we have the best soup I have ever eaten, but we also had an amazing time. I love the Skogens, and Meaghan is the GREATEST!!! Thanks again for having us over!
