This time last week I was spending my last night in Salt Lake City, Utah. To be more specific, this time last week I was actually at a Fun. concert with Brian. The trip was an amazing one, and totally worth it. It was probably the largest spur of the moment trip I've taken. Luckily my fall break lasted a whole week! Also, I got lucky when my dad was able to save me $100 on my plane ticket! My round-trip flight ended up costing a little over $300. Not too bad!
I absolutely love Utah. It's just such a beautiful state. The mountains were exactly the change of scenery that I needed. Seeing some of my friends that live out west who I hadn't seen in a while was also what made the trip worth while. I also made some new friends.
Some of the places that I got to see are:
Park City
Provo- the temple there, BYU, and the MTC
Draper
Temple Square (though I've seen it once before)
The World's First KFC (it's in Utah! Who knew?)
and much, much more!
Since I've gotten back, my life has returned to it's boringness... if that's even a word. I can think of no other way to describe it. The trip was needed, but now that I'm back it means making decissions again. Like, what I want to do with my life. I know it sounds selfish of me, but I wish that I could travel the world taking photographs of everything. That's what I love to do. I don't think I'm talented enough to work for National Geographic, and outside of that I can think of no way to make money doing what I love to do. I wish that I could be one of those people that just quits everything they are doing and for one year travels the world. My only problem there would be, would I really be able to give that up after a year?
It might just be part of growing up, but it really hurts to realize that I may have to give up on my dream of having some sort of career which involves traveling and taking photographs. Especially since I can't really even think of one.
I know I probably sound selfish... but travel is more than just a way for me to escape everyday life. It's how I learn. I learned more about England for the 3 weeks I was there than I ever have in school. I never would have known where Assisi was if I hadn't been there. I couldn't have pointed Monaco out to you on a map until I was there. I'm such a visual person and I learn things by being there and seeing them in front of me. By taking pictures of things and looking at them again and again helps me to commit things to my memory.
